P4(b) Advertising

Meaning: Advertising means the to promote or introduce a product of the company to the public through the way of commercials, like posters, radio, television, in order to make more people know the product and to attract them to purchase it.

Purpose: The purpose of this section is to show how The Walt Disney advertises their media product through posters and commercial videos on Youtube.

The Walt Disney Company, as one of the world's most widely known and best-trusted entertainment brand, it has many way of advertising to promote its services and products.

Here is a poster of The Disneyland, we can see that in the poster there is a castle, which represents the Disneyland, and fireworks near by, one of the firework is in the shape of a rainbow, that makes people think of happiness. The colour of this poster is colourful and wonderful too, it catches people's attention therefore making people want to visit Disneyland.
The font in front is in white colour so it is very obvious with the colourful background, also the subtitle is " Let the memories begin", it means that visitors will gain wonderful memories therefore these are "real memories".

This is an advertisement of the Disney resort too, in this poster, we can see a scene from Cinderella, where she is running from the castle back home because the magic will fade away at 12 in the midnight, but unfortunately she left her glass slipper during the rush. Cinderella is turned into real human beings in this poster, not in animation form, this gives idea of anyone can become cinderella too and Disney movies could happen in reality. The castle at the background again represents Disney, so people knows this is a promotion from Disney. There is a small sentence, " Where every Cinderella story remain true.", this attracts visitors to the resort because people might want to experience life of cinderella.

This is an advertisement from the Disney Hollywood Studios, we know this because there is a small symbol at the down left corner of the poster. In this poster, we can see a Hollywood tower at the background, so it reflects with the symbol- Disney Hollywood studios. We can also see a robot from the famous movie Star Wars, it is standing with a little child, and it is holding a small ballon, it is trying to show we are all able to experience the world of Star Wars, just in the Hollywood Studio, attracting the visitors to visit.

This is a poster from The Disney Parks, we can see Tinkerbell, Wendy and Peter Pan, it is from one of the scene of the movie Peter Pan, when Wendy and Peter Pan encounter, similar to the adverts above, these 2 characters have turned into real human beings, this tells the visitors that anyone can become the characters in the movie, and experience the wondrous adventure. The colour of the poster is colourful and sharp, so it attracts people's attention, also there is a small symbol at the right right corner, showing this poster is a promotion from the DisneyParks.

Here is a an advertisement of The Walt Disney Company for their brand campaign, in this short clip, we can see that different disney movies appeared in it, such as Toy story, Frozen, Peter Pan, these are famous Disney movies, also the little girls are wearing princess gowns also from the Disney princesses, these are symbolics of The Walt Disney image making it more recognisable, it is very magical so children will be attracted easily, because they like creative and wonderful things.

Here is an advertisement of The Disneyland resort, again same as the advertisement above, it used symbolic characters of The Walt Disney- Peter Pan and the giant pirate boat to take children to a wondrous place, which is The Disneyland, in this small clips, the 2 adults smiled and were discussing about the price and idea of going to the Walt Disney resort, so it gives information to the audiences, attracting both adults and children to the resort.

Cross media

Cross-media is a form of cross promotion which the company introduce their product to customers through advertisement like emails, posters or webpages. This form of promotion benefits the the publishers and and advertisers, so both of them gain profits but also promote the product to the public.

For example, the iTunes store has cooperated with The Walt Disney Company to sell the soundtrack of the movie, in order to gain more profits and make this movie more memorable, as this movie required a lot of effort and the music is performed by an orchestra.

Also, 7-11, one of the most popular convenience shop all over the world. It also sells Micky Mouse and Minnie mouses for people who buys things over a specific amount of money. The customers will receive these products as a gift, this is an example of cross media and cooperation as well, because 7-11 has adverts of these exchanging events on TV.

Here are 2 advertisements from McDonalds, the theme is The Incredibles and Despicable me, they are both movies from The Disney Company. These adverts are to promote happy meal to children and people, but using the characters from the movie to attract the people's attention, and also offering mini toys, this benefits The Walt Disney from being more popular and promoting the movies from others ways.
This is also an example of cross media, as these videos will be adverted on internet and TVs.
