p1(b) Operating model 

Meaning: Operating model means how legal departments in the company interact with each other. 

Purpose: The purpose of this section is to understand how work is given to different company and why Walt Disney is so successful. We will also look at the management team of the Walt Disney and their background.



The screenshot above shows how Disney business segments. We can see that it is separated in 5 business segments: Media networks, parks and resorts, studio entertainment, customers products and interactive. 

Media Networks

This segment includes broadcast and cable television networks, television production operations, television distribution, domestic television stations, and radio networks and stations

This 2 person plays the most important role in the whole Walt Disney Company, here are some more informations about Robert A Iger and Andy Bird. 

Robert A Iger: He is the Chairman and Chief Executive officer of The Walt Disney Company. His goals and aims for The Walt disney Company focuses on 3 parts : 
-Generating the best creative content possible
-Producing innovation and utilising the latest technology.
-Expanding into new markets around the world.

Andy Bird: He is the chairman of the Walt Disney International, who is responsible for Disney's businesses outside the United States. Reporting to Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, Mr.Bird and his global develop and implement strategies to increase Disney brand and awareness in key international markets, introducing new customers and guests to Disney's unique storytelling and iconic characters. 

Marketing:
The marketing department at Walt Disney Company employs marketing manager, online marketing professionals, product managers and marketing coordinate. The marketing department is to discover what audiences like of their products, they also have to do all kind of researches to predict the amount of money needed to succeed a project. For example, movies related to hero or independent princesses are very popular, therefore the marketing department will try their best to meet the requirement of the public.It also includes advertising, promotions and packaging. 



From this screenshot of the Disney official site, I have found some information about marketing careers. It shows all the requirements they would like their employees to fulfil. We can see that Walt Disney is very strict to their employees. 

Financial: 
The financial department will do a plan and estimation of how much money will be spent on each events, parks, resorts or also on films. They are also responsible for the tax fee, they will try their best to lower the tax on different products and minimum the cost that the company has to spend. They also have to record all the incomes and outcomes of the company from different subsidiaries in the company. 


Here shows 2 screenshots from the 2014-2015 annual report, here we can see it listed clearly the incomes, revenues and shares, and the income increases by each year, this is one of the job of the finance department. 

Consumer products and interactive media: 

The consumer products and interactive media's, he is in charge of the Company's creation of physical and digital experiences across more than 100 categories. 
The famous characters that we watch since we were little, they all come Pitaro and his team , they brought these characters and stories to life, through the 5 biggest brand - Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel. They have the world's largest children's book publisher, licensing business across toys, apparel and home goods and digital game state including mobile and console experiences, and approximately 250 Disney Store locations around the world.



They are also in charge for the cutting-edge technologists and creative content experts that manage Disney's web and social media presence and also create original content for the next-generation content. 
Now, after he has became the president for Disney Interactive, he then put his strength ton gaming and digital media division of The Walt Disney Company, such as games and entertaining channels for kids and children such as Disney channel, expanding the reputation of the company and increasing the profits. This department also works for advertisements and products development, in general it receives reports from the Marketing department and according to the surveys and reports they work together to entertain audiences and meet their demands. 



Parks and resorts:


The Company owns and operates the Walt Disney World Report in Flourida, California, Aulani and Hawaii. It also has resorts internationally, for example Hong Kong Disneyland resorts and Shanghai Disney resorts, he company also has Disneyland in Paris and other countries .All these resorts and parks are in charged by Mr.Chapek.


This is a report of the Parks and Resorts, it shows the revenue from 2015 to 2015, the operating income has increased from $2,663 to $3,031, increasing the profits for the company and expanding its reputation. 

The Walt Disney Studios 



As the screenshot shows, the Walt Disney Studios Park is to take guests into the world of cinema, animations and televisions. The Walt Disney Studios Park is the second of 2 theme parks build at Disneyland Paris in Marne- la-Vallee, France. It shows guests business, themed after movies, productions and behind-the-scenes.

The Walt Disney Studios Park used the themes of the animations and films, to be the themes of the studios park, these attract the attention of the audiences who like the animations or films from Disney, this is the other way to increase the profits.
